2020 Response
Sewa approach to fight against COVID-19
Nevertheless, the situation in India still seems under control with the support of citizens. As announced by the Government of India, entire India is under lock-down until 31st May to contain the further spread of this virus and the countrymen are up for the challenge to beat the devil virus. Constant awareness and various schemes have been rolled out by states and central government for marginalized community who are most vulnerable at this time. Still, the resources lack in terms of food, shelter and medical services as there is much bigger population to cover. |
We at Sewa International firmly believe that we can fight the situation by adequate preparation and taking prevention steps in order to curb the spread of Coronavirus. Hence, we have strategized 4-tier approach to help our government and fight along with them against this virus. AwarenessIt is very important that we utilize online means of communication i.e. social media like facebook, instgram etc. in today’s time to properly guide and provide verified information in order to avoid panic among citizens. Stay@Home KitOur specially designed kits have essentials like dry ration (rice, flour, puleses, sugar etc.), basic medical kit and hygiene kit. Our targeted approach to cater these kits to vulnerable families across various states is in line with government announced scheme to provide food and other necessary goods to migrant labours and poor families. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) Kit and N95 maskIt is paramount that our doctors and healthcare staff remain healthy and fit in order deliver their best. With proper PPE (that includes gown, gloves, head cover, eye protection, face shield, mask, respirators and shoe cover) kit and N95 mask, we can ensure their well-being so that they can discharge their duty at this national emergency. Home-made masksAnalyses show that if 50% of the population were to wear masks, only 50% of the population would be infected by the virus. Once 80% of the population wears a mask, the outbreak can be stopped immediately. (Source: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30229968/. The Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (OPSA) has also endorsed use of cloth-based home-made masks that has protection upto 70% and is reusable. These masks would provide basic protection against spread of corona virus and other respiratory diseases to poor families, essential service provider workers like food vendors, police personnel, cleaners etc. |
