Civil Society C20
C20 is one of the official Engagement Groups of the G20. It provides a platform for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) around the world to voice people’s aspirations with the world’s leaders in G20. The Bhartiya model of development, based on Dharmic Values, assigns an equal role to the Society at large, along with the other two verticals viz., the State and the Market. The success of this developmental model led by non-state actors can be seen in the management of Temples and Dharmshalas, community-led welfare institutions, and, various people’s movement against social ills or protection of ecology across the length and breadth of Bharat. With emerging issues such as Climate Change, Mental Health, and Wellness, intrusive tech, the need of the hour for Civil Society Organizations in Bharat is to be the anchor of change and inspiration, be the voice of value-driven development model and, spread the idea of “Vasudaiva Kudumbakam”
Under the Indian Presidency of the G20 this year, the Civil20 remains committed to advocating evidence-based policy recommendations. C20 will strive towards the realization of the Indian C20 motto – “You Are the Light”.
Working Groups
  • Sewa
  • Sense of Service
  • Philanthropy
  • Volunteerism

Under the Sewa model of development, a strong preparedness plan could be developed wherein ‘selfless service’, volunteerism and acts of philanthropy would be the three major components for achieving desired outcomes. Philanthropic organizations too, can expand and provide depth to the connotation of the ‘sewa’. The aim of the working group would be to bring these components together for the establishment of a new world, a world where every individual has a sense of service and selfless love for each other can make us the beings of one family.
