HIM संवाद Himalayan Ideation Meet

2nd Sewa International SDGs Conference
29 – 30th January 2020

Sewa International is organizing a 2-day conference on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The conference is aimed to collaborate with Civil society organizations, Research scholars, Public policymakers, Institutions/Universities and relevant Government departments to bring in their synergy and work together towards solving the environmental, economic, social challenges of the Himalayan region. 1st SDG conference was held in New Delhi in 2018 that witnessed the participation of delegates from 13 various countries to create awareness and knowledge sharing on these important goals and their relevance for India. The conference was a huge success and culminated with a resolution to formulate a 5-year roadmap at a national level that aims towards achieving the SDGs.

The focus for the upcoming conference is Localizing SDGs with the Himalayan perspective and creating consensus among various stakeholders for constructive collaboration to prepare the agenda for implementation through multi-level governance mechanism. With the increased global warming, the delicately balanced Himalayan ecosystem has destabilized resulting into fast-melting glaciers, loss of soil cover, increasing incidences of climatic disasters (like 2013 floods in Uttarakhand) causing huge loss of lives and infrastructure. This calls for a focused approach to remedy the situation. The conference aims to deliver practical methods, case studies, strategies for a coordinated approach to providing implementable solutions with SDGs as guiding goals.
