Join Hands for Healthy India
We, SEWA INTERNATIONAL, INDIA, are endeavoring to provide assistance to the really downtrodden urban and rural poor in getting exposed to the health and hygiene, and fulfilling our goal to achieve “HEALTH FOR ALL”. Our emphasis will be to provide medical assistance to one and all, and educate and ensure healthy habits, which are often ignored or overlooked.
We will organize health camps in specific locations on a regular basis, in rural habitats and urban slums to bring in awareness about all round health care and healthy practices. We will also have experts delivering knowledge about water, sanitation and hygiene education through lectures and interventions as per the needs.
We propose to have two different kinds of Mobile Medical vehicle. For Hilly tracts we need to have preferably, a four wheel drive vehicle and for the plains and the coastal belts we can have smaller Vans in service. Proposal for both the types of vans have been separately attached and photos of both the types of Mobile medical Vans have been given for your reference.

Mobile Mediacal Van suited for Hill regions

Mobile Medical Van suited for plains

Sewa International wishes to start up this venture of providing HEALTH facilities, by operating Mobile Medical Vans in a big way, ensuring health equity and health security to ALL. Hence, we seek your support for the noble cause. It is the right time for you to make a difference to others’ lives- and to your own- through your generous support.

“In the world take always the position of the giver. Give everything and look for no return. Give love, give help, give service, give any little thing you can, but keep out barter. Make no conditions and none will be imposed on you. Let us give out our own bounty, just as God gives to us.”
It is the right time for you to make a difference to others’ lives- and to your own- through your generous support.

PROJECT PROPOSAL - 1

Title of the project: MOBILE MEDICAL UNIT (Four Wheel Drive Vehicle)

Geographical Area of Operation: Hilly regions and rugged terrains.

Implementing Organization:  SEWA INTERNATIONAL, India in coordination, with our partner organizations in respective states.

Background: There has been a significant improvement in health consciousness in India in recent times and significant improvements have been achieved in the demographic and health indicators of the people. Even then, much more is to be achieved in the health sector, especially for those living in the far off places and at an inaccessible distance from the available health centers. India is a country with varied topography like the rugged terrains, high hills and ridges, and deep forest with the tribal dwellings etc. Poor people living in such areas are often devoid of even the minimum health care, due to several reasons, may be problems of inaccessibility, lack of transport and poor communication facility and sometimes because of ignorance about health hygiene and also may be due to unavailability of Doctors in the vicinity. Most of such distant villages are even devoid of proper access road, which can only be reached on foot. This problem can be attended by operating a Mobile Medical Unit, which can reach the afflicted with health care at their doorsteps.

Project Objective: Sewa International proposes to operate such Mobile project unit in different states of India phase-wise, selecting districts on priority basis as per the existing health status in the specific areas, with the prime objective of providing health services to the deprived lot at their doorstep. With the help of the Mobile Medical Unit, we will cater to the basic Heath care needs of the poor and deserving people of the tribal areas, rural and even the urban slums. We will organize regular medical check up in such target areas once a week and hold medical camps to enhance health & hygiene awareness, sanitation and healthy habits, at least once in six months. As poor people are ignorant of various health hazards, they tend to suffer from many severe diseases. They are neither aware of treating water nor is anybody available in those remote places to explain them about the water borne diseases which causes gastroenteritis, cholera, enteric fever, jaundice, etc. due to intake of contaminated water, especially during the rainy season.

Methodology: 1. Selection of specific target group and areas where the Mobile medical unit will visit at least once a week with a Doctor/Arogya Rakshak accompanied by a compounder.
2. Health Check-up and free distribution of medicine as per the ailment.
3. Doctor’s interaction with the community members on every visit for at least half an hour, to enhance health awareness.
4. Organize health camp once in a month, where treatment along with health and sanitation tips would be provided by Doctors and experts.
5. The mobile medical unit will also operate as an ambulance, if a patient needs special treatment at a specialized hospital.
6. To arrange Mobile Hospital facility at Weekly Market place: People living in far flung areas, usually have a market place operating weekly, where they usually buy and sell their produce. Such weekly markets are a common scene witnessed in India, in almost all the states and very common in the tribal dominated states. In such market place, no proper health centers are available hence we can cater to the health needs of a larger section of poor and deserving people, by treating and giving free medicines at such market centers.

Infrastructure Needed: Medical Van, A Doctor/Arogya Rakshak, Compounder, Driver, Project Coordinator, Assistant and Medicines and primary health check-up equipments.

1. Medical Van (Four wheel drive):     Rs. 5,00,000

PROJECT PROPOSAL -2

Title of the project: MOBILE MEDICAL UNIT, (Small Vehicle)

Most of such distant villages are even devoid of proper access road, which can only be reached on foot.
This problem can be attended by operating a Mobile Medical Unit, which can reach the afflicted with health care at their doorsteps.

Project Objective: Sewa International proposes to operate a Mobile medical unit preferably a smaller vehicle which we would operate in the plains and the coastal regions, selecting districts on priority basis as per the existing health status in the specific areas, with the prime objective of providing health services to the deprived lot at their doorstep. With the help of the Mobile Medical Unit, we will cater to the basic Heath care needs of the poor and deserving people of the state, with special emphasis in rural areas and even the urban slums. They are neither aware of treating water nor is anybody available in those remote places to explain them about the water borne diseases which causes gastroenteritis, cholera, enteric fever, jaundice, etc. due to intake of contaminated water, especially during the rainy season.

Our Competency: Thanks to the solid base of community activities and matching institutional strengths, we have almost every where in India. Our partner organizations is already running a health programs in the name of Arogya Rakshak Yojana in many states, where motivated and educated youths have been trained in basic health services. These trained Arogya Rakshak can do earliest possible diagnosis and first aid pertaining to diseases commonly prevailing in respective areas. These trained health workers are provided a medical kit with medicines and essential equipments. They work in the villages allocated to them under the supervision of nearest qualified medical doctors. Complex cases are referred to these empanelled doctors. This program has been in existence over five years getting encouraging results and has received accolades for their health services from both the beneficiaries as well as people of Assam in general.
Hence, Sewa International will benefit from the already existing health workers & infrastructure and we are confident that by operating the Mobile Medical Check-up unit, we can ameliorate the health status through better hygienic practices, environmental sanitation, creating health awareness, nutritional intervention etc. Having a smaller vehicle in the plains will be beneficial in reaching to the doorsteps of the beneficiaries too, as sometimes we have narrow village roads where bigger vehicles can’t ply.
